PURPLE RAIN Midnight Mass at SF’s Bridge Theatre July 2 & 3

Are you ready to purify yourself in Lake Minnetonka?

It’s the  two-night return  of a Midnight Mass classic!
On July 2nd and 3rd, Peaches presents the ‘80s classic PURPLE RAIN, starring PRINCE, APPOLONIA, MORRIS DAY, JEROME BENTON, and all the fabulous Minneapolis sound and fashion you can get your head around. This Academy-award winning score contains some of the greatest pop music ever, let alone put to a film. We dare you to not sing along and dance in the aisles! Besides this being the return of one of Midnight Mass’ biggest events, Peaches is also ready to restage the royally bad-ass purple pre-show, starring Peaches Christ herself, Martiny, and the legendary Putanesca in her triple-threat tour de force performance.

Tickets on sale now… Purchase early!

Are you the sluttiest?

Also that night is the return of our infamous ‘80s Slut Pageant. Who will be the biggest slut of all? Who will go away with the crown and a big bag of sex positive-accoutrement? Be sure to where your finest lingerie, lace and paisley. Can you where as little as possible and sell ‘80s realness without showing any of your slutty goods? If so, you must compete for this highly coveted title.

On hand to show how it’s done is local clothing designer and ‘80s-obsessed drag queen Fruitbomb, who will display his latest creations in our Purple People Fashion Show. Past screenings of PURPLE RAIN have always been out fastest sellers, so buy your tickets as soon as they go on sale. Else you may not live to see the dawn! Don’t forget, Peaches Christ will Die 4 U…

The stage-show and screenings are happening two nights only… only at Midnight!

About the film:

“The Kid” (Prince) is an aspiring and talented, but troubled Minneapolis musician with a difficult home life. He meets a singer named Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), and they become involved in an untidy romance. The plot centers on Prince trying not to repeat the pattern of his abusive alcoholic father, played by Clarence Williams III (best known for his role as Lincoln Hayes onThe Mod Squad), and keep his band, The Revolution, and his relationship with Apollonia, together. His main antagonist is fellow musician Morris Day and his group The Time. However, despite the best intentions of the screenplay, it’s when the bands take the stage that the film really comes alive. Highlights include the opening sequence of “Let’s Go Crazy”, Appolonia 6’s naughty “Sex Shooter”, The Time’s “Jungle Love”. Directed by Albert Magnoli (1984). A Warner Bros. Picture.
