Peaches
Christ, a direct descendant of Jesus,
is an underground drag phenomenon,
emcee, filmmaker, actor, and part time cult-leader. Ms. Christ
currently resides in San Francisco where her Backlash Production
Company and Midnight Mass movie series are based. Her Midnight
Mass road-show and Short Film Retrospective have been on tour
and appeared in Seattle, Berkeley, New York City, and Brussels
Belgium.
Midnight Mass with your hostess Peaches Christ
is San Francisco’s hugely popular midnight movie event.
It began in the chilly summer of 1998. The elaborate pre-show
stage productions, guest stars, and drag spectacles continue
to draw sell-out crowds. Whether Ms. Christ is naked and exploding
from a volcano, refereeing drag queen roller-derby, or interviewing
special guests Mink Stole, Tura Satana, Mary Woronov, or Elvira,
a good time is had by all.
Peaches Christ has appeared on national television including
VH1’s Totally Gay, AMC’s Movies That Shook the
World: Pink Flamingos, and IFC’s Cult Movie pilot.
Peaches stars in a number of short
films
written and directed by her alter-ego Joshua
Grannell. Peaches’ short film collection is now on DVD.
It features the “Tran-ilogy of Terror” which chronicles
the real life horror stories of Peaches and pals. The films
Season of the Troll, A Nightmare On Castro Street, and Whatever
Happened to Peaches Christ? have become international hits
at film festivals and on cable television. The DVD also includes
Joshua’s short film Grindhouse; a gore comedy currently
being developed into a feature-length film to be shot in the
Bay Area.
Peaches Christ co-produces the SF Underground Short Film Festival
with local macabre snob Vinsantos. The fest is designed to
showcase outrageously talented and often overlooked Bay Area
Filmmakers. In 2005, Peaches released her debut CD single
Idol Worship. Peaches continues to appear on the wildly successful
Trannyshack stage where she got her start back in 1996. Ms.
Christ regularly emcees the show when hostess Heklina needs
the night off.
